The Owl, the Mouse, and the Fox · Page 3 of 6
Trying Alone
The owl flew high above the log, searching for a way in from the sky. But the branch blocked every opening, and the owl's talons couldn't move something so heavy.
The fox pushed and pulled at the branch with all its strength. But the branch was wedged too tightly, and the log's opening was far too narrow for the fox to fit through.
The mouse squeezed toward a tiny gap in the log — but the gap led nowhere close to the acorns, and the mouse was far too small to move the heavy branch alone.
One by one, each of them gave up, tired and discouraged.
