A New Idea
That evening, the three neighbors sat together by the oak tree, feeling defeated.
“Perhaps,” said the mouse quietly, “none of us can do this alone. But maybe, together...”
The owl tilted its head, thinking. The fox's ears perked up.
“I can see the whole forest from above,” said the owl. “I could find another way in.”
“And I'm fast enough to fetch help quickly,” said the fox.
“And I can fit anywhere,” said the mouse. “I could scout the tightest paths.”
For the first time, the three of them made a plan together.
