The Missing Acorns

One autumn morning, the animals of the forest discovered a terrible problem. Their whole winter supply of acorns, stored deep inside a hollow log, had been sealed shut by a fallen branch.

Winter was coming fast, and without those acorns, many forest animals would go hungry.

“I'll handle this myself,” said the owl, swooping down for a look.

“No, I will,” said the fox, trotting over.

“Actually, I think I should,” said the mouse, scurrying close.
