The Gingerbread Cottage
The two children wandered through the dark trees for what felt like days, growing hungrier and more tired with every step.
Just as the moon began to rise, they came upon the strangest little house they had ever seen. Its walls were made of gingerbread, its roof of sweet frosting, and its windows sparkled like spun sugar.
"It smells wonderful," Gretel whispered.
Too hungry to resist, the children broke off a piece each and began to eat.
