Alice's Evidence

Alice had been growing all this while, and as she stood she upset the jury-box, spilling the jurors in every direction.

“Rule Forty-two,” read the King. “All persons more than a mile high to leave the court.”

“Sentence first — verdict afterwards!” cried the Queen. “Off with her head!”

“You're nothing but a pack of cards!” said Alice — and at that the whole pack rose into the air and came flying down upon her.

She woke beside her sister on the riverbank, and told her the curious dream.
