A Small Promise
“Please, great lion, forgive me!” the mouse squeaked. “I meant no harm. If you let me go, I promise — one day, I will repay your kindness.”
The lion tipped back his huge head and laughed. “You? Repay me? You're far too small to ever help someone as mighty as I am!”
Still, something about the little mouse's courage amused him. With a huff, he lifted his paw and let her scurry away.
