A Lesson Learned
The next morning, the boy sat quietly with the villagers, feeling ashamed.
“I cried wolf so many times that no one believed me when it was true,” he said softly.
An old villager placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “A liar will not be believed, even when speaking the truth. That is why trust, once broken, is so hard to earn back.”
From that day on, the boy never played the trick again. He watched his sheep carefully, and slowly, the villagers learned to trust him once more.
And whenever he truly needed help, they always came running.
